According to the Tezos team, the Kathmandu update went live on the proof-of-stake mainnet at block 2,736,129 on Friday at 8:30 a.m. UTC.

The 11th upgrade since its start in 2018, and offers possible scalability improvements.

According to the formal proposal for the update, it has introduced the possibility to allow off-chain computing through Layer 2 solutions like as optimistic roll-ups, as well as optimized the block validation process for improved transactional performance.

In addition, the authors stated that Kathmandu developed a persistent testnet for testing with new features, increased randomization in how the mainnet selects delegates for greater security, and made other protocol enhancements.
