On Thursday, the famed NFT artist and pioneer took to Twitter to announce the construction of a real studio space in his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina. He supplied a sped-up video, captioned BUILD in all caps, of a vast warehouse building being renovated.

As he promoted the new initiative, Beeple offered a passionate speech:

“I believe by showing people that this artwork can absolutely be shared and appreciated in real life, not just on our tiny screens, they will see that this medium is just like any other with the ability to bring beauty, provoke thoughtful discussion, and truly move us.”

He also stated that displaying digital art in the actual world may be just what the NFT industry requires in light of the recent collapse.

“The entire digital art/NFT community coming together and experiencing digital artwork IRL is something that I think will help bring in the next wave of collectors, and that is precisely what we need to move past this bear market.”

Beeple, the actual name Mike Winkelmann, is still one of the most successful NFT artists in the world. Last year, he sold an NFT for a record $69 million at Christie’s auction house.
