$40M In Crypto From Illegal Gambling Has Been Confiscated By Turkey

Turkish authorities seized $40 million worth of crypto due to illegal gambling from organized crime groups in the country’s capital, Ankara.

This operation originated in Turkey’s Cyprus and is related to the murder of Halil Falyalı. “A remittance of approximately 2.5 billion Turkish Lira ($135 million) has occurred. About $40 million of funds have been seized at the moment,” The Turkish Interior Minister, Süleyman Soylu, said.

Halil Falyalı was a Turkish casino head who was murdered in February at his home in Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus.

Authorities have arrested 46 suspects across Turkey on suspicion of operating an illegal gambling ring that brings illicit profits to cryptocurrency wallets owned by a criminal organization based in Ankara.
