CFTC Chairman Will Be Present At FTX Hearing In Senate
The chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Rostin Behnam, will testify at a Senate hearing regarding the FTX event next week, according to a listing on the website of the Senate Agriculture Committee.
The panel will hold its hearing on December 1 even though it is unknown which company representative will be on the final list of witnesses. Behnam is the first witness listed online.
Prior to FTX’s collapse this month and withdrawal of the application, the CFTC chairman had given a proposal to allow direct clearing of cryptocurrency futures substantial public attention.
A hearing on FTX has also been announced by the House Financial Services Committee.
Prior to that, Josh Hawley, a member of the US Senate Judiciary Committee, sent a letter to Behnam and other senior Biden administration officials requesting information and correspondence about the collapse of the crypto exchange FTX.
