Burn Ghost, An NFT Game, Raises $3.1 Million For Its Gaming Platform
The startup aims to increase Web3 adoption through simple games that award winners with NFT collectibles.
Burn Ghost, a startup focused on casual games that reward players with NFT prizes, has raised $3.1 million in funding.
The seed round for the firm, which was founded by game industry veterans, was co-led by Drive by DraftKings and Bitkraft Ventures.
As NFTs have gained traction, an increasing number of games are incorporating crypto assets into interactive in-game goods as well as tokenized economies. However, a new startup in the space is taking a different approach: a casual gaming platform with NFTs as prizes.
That’s what Burn Ghost is working on, and the company revealed exclusively to Decrypt today that it has raised $3.1 million in funding to help it achieve its goals.
The seed round, which closed in April, was co-led by Drive by DraftKings and gaming-focused fund Bitkraft Ventures, with Pillar VC also participating.
Rather than creating complex, robust games based on NFTs, which have irritated some gamers, Burn Ghost will concentrate on simple, approachable casual games with a skill component. According to CEO and co-founder Steve Curran, trivia experiences will be among the first original games on the web-based platform.
