BMW Gets Web3 Trademarks To Join Into NFTs And Metaverse
BMW, a well-known German automaker, motorbike manufacturer, and engine manufacturer, has apparently registered to trademark its emblem in connection with a variety of Web3 goods and services.
The action was noted by USPTO licensed trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis, who routinely provides news about large corporations’ Web3 trademark applications in the United States.
Its applications include downloadable multimedia files with artwork, text, music, and video of automobiles, as well as downloadable computer programs with vehicles, toy vehicles, vehicle components, and accessories.
These objects are intended for usage in immersive virtual reality settings. Users may be able to imitate the operation of land vehicles using their VR headsets or glasses.
This is not the first time the well-known company has ventured into Web3. BMW chose in February to preserve the sound of its engine roars as a sequence of NFTs featured in an OpenSea marketplace, “Museum of Sound,” issued on the Polygon network.
In 2022, the number of U.S. trademarks for NFTs and other blockchain products roughly tripled compared to the full year of 2021. the number of NFT and blockchain-related trademarks in the United States topped 6,000 between January 1 and September 30, according to statistics and a graphic published on October 5 by trademark and patent attorney Michael Kondoudis.
Famous artists and famous brands have also begun to enter this field with trademark registration. The prominent names that can be mentioned are Miley Cirus, Snoop Dogg, or giants like Ford, Sony Music, and the luxury brand Hermès. It can be said that this is a potential field for companies that want to develop in virtual reality and technology.
