The former Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) officer joined the investment organization as an advisor last year, according to a statement from the firm.
Quintenz joined a16z as an advisor shortly after Web3 had experienced its first important moment in DC with the passing of the Infrastructure Bill.
The ex-CFTC Commissioner has been essential in assisting a16z and portfolio in managing DC’s complexity since then.
Quintenz’s appointment comes as US legislators contemplate new legislation to govern the cryptocurrency business. Following a succession of instances such as Luna, FTX, the CFTC is among the bodies competing for expanded powers to police the industry.
