Telegram Users Now Can Use Blockchain-based Anonymous Numbers
Telegram has released a new upgrade that allows users to register accounts with blockchain-based anonymous numbers rather than mobile phone numbers.
Users will need to purchase “blockchain-powered anonymous numbers” through Fragment, a decentralized auction site launched by Telegram inventor Pavel Durov, to utilize the function. Fragment sells solely Telegram-compatible user names and anonymous numbers.
Unfortunately for users in the United States, Fragment does not provide its services to residents of that country.
People who purchase a number can then use these private numbers to get a verification code SMS after logging into Telegram.
People on Fragment may buy a random number for 9 TON or they can buy and sell them via auction. It appears that some numbers are in significant demand since “+888 8 888” now has the highest offer of 34,729 TON at the time of writing.
For cryptocurrency fans, the chat platform has become a popular app. The change is part of a 9.2 update released on December 6, which also allows users to set durations on messages in new chats to remove them automatically.
