The White House Has Kept Mum On SBF’s $5.2 Million Donation
A White House official skirted direct queries about whether President Joe Biden intends to repay SBF’s campaign contributions.
At the White House news conference on December 13, Associated Press reporter Zeke Miller questioned whether US President Biden would refund the $5.2 million presidential campaign donation previously supplied by FTX founder SBF. ‘I can’t discuss political donations or anything linked to it,’ said the spokesperson.
SBF is the second-largest “CEO contributor” to Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign, trailing only media magnate Michael Bloomberg’s $56 million in contributions. He is also the highest individual donor in the United States’ 2022 midterm elections, providing $36.8 million to candidates.
In the 2022 midterm elections, the FTX founder was the second-largest Democratic party contributor in the campaign, funneling $36.8 million to its candidates.
On December 13, Bankman-Fried was charged with violating campaign finance rules, including violations of contribution laws and hindering the work of the Federal Election Commission, as well as making contributions in the name of others.
