The false information suggested that Zhao was an official in the Chinese Communist Party and an employee of the Chinese state-owned company PetroChina in the 1990s.
Binance has denied these claims, stating that they are completely false and that there is no evidence to support them.

According to public information, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the founder and CEO of Binance, was a member of the Youth League Committee of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) during his time working at the company in the 1990s. The Youth League Committee is a youth organization under the Communist Party of China that is responsible for educating and cultivating young people in accordance with the party’s ideology and policies. CZ worked at CNPC for several years before moving on to other roles in the tech and finance industries.
This information is publicly available on Changpeng Zhao’s LinkedIn profile, as well as in various news articles and interviews. For example, in a 2018 interview with Forbes, Additionally, in his LinkedIn profile, he lists his previous role at CNPC as “Software Developer” and notes his involvement in the Youth League Committee.
