Aztec Launches New Approach “Hybrid”, The Next Generation Of zkRollup

Key Points:

  • Aztec has announced its new approach to comprehensive solutions, Aztec Hybrid zkRollup.
  • The newly introduced solution will integrate both public (public) and private (private) uses.
  • Hybrid will allow programmers to write contracts similar to the experience on Ethereum but still ensure security features.
After many notable changes, Aztec recently announced its new approach in the field of Layer-2 scaling. The solution this time introduced by the project is Aztec Hybrid zkRollup.

Aztec Labs is creating a hybrid zero-knowledge fusion designed to execute smart contracts in a private, trustless, and scalable way.

Developers built the Ethereum blockchain to optimize public consensus at the expense of privacy, and security solutions often don’t support the complex ecosystem of decentralized applications. Aztec’s hybrid zero-knowledge (ZK) roll-up solution aims to solve this problem.

The solution introduced by the Aztec will integrate for both public and private use. In parallel, information about the product development roadmap lasts until the beginning of 2024.

The project said Aztec is an environment for processing transactions, integrated with Zero-Knowledge (ZK) technology. However, Aztec insists it has no intention of moving toward zkEVM (like many notable recent projects).

Explaining this approach, the project said that the goal of “privatizing” user transactions is not always compatible with the EVM virtual machine system.

Hybrid combines the scalability of applications thanks to Ethereum’s account-based network management and UTXO mechanism, which supports the privacy assurance of many classic blockchains such as Bitcoin. With this combination, programmers can write contracts similar to the experience on Ethereum but still ensure security features.

In its current state, users can deploy private contracts on Aztec’s local system, with the public side of the technology still in the works. The team said it is currently targeting a Q3 local developer testnet and fully remote testnets at the start of next year.
