Key Points:
The modular blockchain Celestia has just unveiled its highly anticipated genesis airdrop, and the crypto community is buzzing with excitement. With 7,579 developers and 576,653 on-chain addresses eligible to participate.
Starting from the very first block, qualified participants can secure their share of Celestia’s native asset, TIA, before October 17, 2023, 20:00 Beijing time. The total allocation for this airdrop is a whopping 60 million TIA, constituting 6% of the entire supply.
One-third of the Celestia genesis airdrop, including 20 million TIA, has been earmarked for the 7,579 developers, which encompasses public products, key protocol infrastructure, Eth Research, and contributors to the modular DA layer like Avail, EigenLayer, and Solana.
The remaining two-thirds of the airdrop, also amounting to 20 million TIA each, is destined for the 576,653 on-chain addresses. This group includes the most active users of Ethereum rollups, Cosmos Hub and Osmosis stakers, and IBC relayers.
TIA, Celestia’s native asset, holds immense significance in the development of the first modular blockchain network. Developers employ TIA to ensure data availability through PayForBlobs transactions on the Celestia network. These transactions are the lifeblood of the ecosystem, denominated in TIA and utilized as fees.
