This development, following the recent launch of World ID 2.0 and the open sourcing of the Worldcoin iris recognition pipeline in mid-December, marks a significant stride in the global adoption of proof of personhood.
Residents in Singapore can now conveniently undergo World ID verification using the Orb, a custom hardware device developed by the Worldcoin project. However, this opportunity is conspicuously absent for individuals in India, France, and Brazil, leaving customers in these countries without access to this form of verification.
Tools for Humanity (TFH), a contributor to the Worldcoin project, has also joined two esteemed startup and tech associations in Singapore—ACCESS and the Singapore Fintech Association (SFA). This strategic move aligns with TFH’s recent multi-city tour in Asia, where the product development team explored potential collaborations and partnerships.
Notably, the Orb is a specialized hardware device designed by the Worldcoin project to enhance identity verification processes.
The project has been steadily expanding its World ID verification services globally, with recent additions including cities in Spain (Sevilla and Bilbao), Germany (Cologne and Leipzig), and South American locations such as Concepcion, Curico, and Viña del Mar in Chile, along with record-breaking verifications in Argentina. Japan is also part of Worldcoin’s growth trajectory, with new verification locations in Fukuoka and Tokyo.
