Trump Appoints Bo Hines to Lead Presidential Crypto Council
Hines, who earlier ran as a Republican nominee for the House of Representatives, was appointed to lead a newly formed advisory group on digital assets. The presidential crypto council is going to act under the leadership of incoming crypto czar David Sacks.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the presidential crypto council will include big-name crypto figures. Hines’ position will entail coordinating with industry experts and shaping policy in the evolving digital assets sector.
Pro-Crypto Funding Influences Key Appointments
Hines, who unsuccessfully ran for Congress in North Carolina, received financial support from several pro-crypto PACs, such as the American Dream Federal Action super PAC. He was also one of those Republican candidates who benefited from contributions by former FTX CEO Ryan Salame.
Salame is serving a seven-year jail term for illegal political donations, among other crimes. Salame funnelled $13.4 million into the campaigns of Republicans, including that of Hines’.
In a related move, Trump has named former Andreessen Horowitz venture capitalist Sriram Krishnan to the role of Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. Krishnan, who departed the venture capital firm in November, will work closely with Sacks to push forward AI policies and efforts.
