Binance Exec Tigran Gambaryan Willing to Serve Under Trump Administration

Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan is the head of financial crime compliance at the exchange but previously served as a federal agent and played an important role in early crypto tracing efforts. He worked on high-profile cases during Trump’s last term, including major federal investigations.

In an exclusive statement to Coindesk, Gambaryan said:

“It would be an honor to serve my country again and work alongside the incredible men and women in federal law enforcement who worked tirelessly to bring me back to my family.”

Gambaryan, 40, has been recommended for several high-profile roles, including head of crypto assets at the SEC or a leadership position in the FBI’s cyber division. His recommendations have come from notable figures involved in the Bitcoin 2024 Nashville conference, which Trump attended, including event organizer David Bailey and Kraken’s Tracy Hoyos-López.

Nigerian Authorities Accuse Binance of Economic Disruption

The kidnapping of Gambaryan in Nigeria on a business trip in February also drew outrage from even members of Congress.

Nigerian authorities accused Binance of contributing to the country’s economic turmoil, pointing fingers at the platform for exchange rate manipulation and currency speculation that led to the devaluation of the local currency. Gambaryan and Binance were also charged with laundering $35.4 million, which they denied.

Before joining Binance, Gambaryan was an agent at the IRS and worked on several high-profile investigations related to takedowns of child exploitation networks and major darknet markets. His efforts also supported the seizures of millions of dollars worth of stolen Bitcoins from Silk Road to Mt. Gox.
