GUNZ is a Layer 1 blockchain created to support AAA-level games. Its core function is to serve as a high-throughput, low-latency infrastructure for modern game developers, with features that enable users to own, trade, and earn from in-game assets.

The project is led by Neill Blomkamp, the director of District 9 and Elysium, with contributions from author Richard K. Morgan (Altered Carbon) and developers from projects like CryEngine and Far Cry.
In addition to game development, Gunzilla acquired Game Informer, a well-known gaming publication, indicating plans to expand influence beyond development into broader media.
Off The Grid – GUNZ’s Flagship Battle Royale
The main title within the GUNZ ecosystem is Off The Grid (OTG), a battle royale game developed using Unreal Engine 5. The title combines PvP mechanics with approximately 60 hours of PvE content, set on a virtual landscape known as Teardrop Island.
A distinguishing feature of OTG is its “Extraction Royale” mode, in which players collect an item called “HEX.” Successful extraction enables players to convert HEX into a tradable NFT, which can be used in-game or listed on external marketplaces.
Participation in the crypto elements is optional. The game supports free-to-play modes on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, allowing access without digital wallet integration.
