Strategy Buys 13,627 Bitcoin Worth $1.25B in Largest Deal Since July

In Brief

  • Strategy adds 13,627 BTC worth $1.25B, funded via stock and preferred equity sales.
  • Total BTC holdings rise to 687,410 with an unrealized profit of over $10.5 billion.
  • Purchase comes ahead of CLARITY Act markup as firm nears 700,000 BTC milestone.

Publicly traded firm Strategy has added 13,627 BTC to its holdings in a $1.25 billion purchase completed last week. The transaction marks its largest Bitcoin acquisition since July 2025 and the second major buy in 2026.

The company paid an average of $91,519 per Bitcoin, according to its SEC filing released Monday. This increases Strategy’s total BTC holdings to 687,410, acquired at a combined cost of $51.8 billion.

The funding for the latest purchase came from the sale of $1.1 billion in MSTR common stock and $119.1 million in STRC preferred equity. Strategy sold 6.8 million MSTR shares and 1.2 million STRC shares to raise the required capital.

MSTR shares were up slightly in pre-market trading, while Bitcoin held above $90,000 at the time of the announcement. The company remains committed to its Bitcoin treasury strategy despite ongoing market volatility.

Firm Now Holds Over $62B in BTC, Eyes CLARITY Act Impact

Strategy’s total BTC stash is now worth approximately $62.36 billion, giving it an unrealized profit of about $10.56 billion. This represents a nearly 20% gain and reinforces Strategy’s position as the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin.

Michael Saylor continues to lead the firm’s accumulation plan as regulatory developments gain momentum in the United States. The purchase was announced days before the expected markup of the CLARITY Act, which could advance crypto legislation in Congress.

The company previously acquired 1,286 BTC between December 29 and January 4, spending $116 million on that transaction. That smaller buy followed two $1 billion purchases in December 2025, underscoring a steady build-up strategy.

Strategy’s long-term positioning reflects ongoing institutional interest in Bitcoin as a digital reserve asset. Analysts continue to monitor the firm’s moves as it approaches the symbolic milestone of 700,000 BTC.
