Paradigm co-founder Matt Huang praised ZachXBTβs investigative efforts, calling him a “legend” in the field of blockchain forensics.
Huang noted that the investigator has helped recover over $350 million for victims of hacks and scams. He emphasized that ZachXBTβs core mission remains unchanged and that Paradigmβs support aims to enhance his ability to continue his work.
Paradigm, known for its strategic investments in the crypto sector, has been actively backing Web3 and blockchain startups. The company has also been vocal about Ethereumβs development, committing $1.25 million to support Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Stormβs legal defense.
Blockchain investigator ZachXBT has gained widespread recognition for his in-depth investigations into cryptocurrency-related crimes. With over 820,000 followers on X and 70,000 subscribers on Telegram, he has played a key role in exposing fraudulent activities in the digital asset space.
Most recently, he provided critical evidence linking North Koreaβs Lazarus Group to a $1.4 billion hack on ByBit. His findings earned him a $50,000 bounty from blockchain intelligence firm Arkham.
The Lazarus Group, which ZachXBT has helped expose, remains one of the most notorious hacking organizations targeting both traditional finance and the crypto industry.
The hacker group has been linked to high-profile cyberattacks, including the Bangladesh Bank heist, the Sony Pictures breach, and the creation of the WannaCry ransomware. In the crypto space, Lazarus has targeted major projects such as Axie Infinity and Wormhole, making them a significant threat to the industry.
Despite taking on his new advisory role at Paradigm, ZachXBT assured his followers that he remains committed to his primary mission of uncovering crypto scams and aiding law enforcement. Over the years, his investigations have led to the identification and apprehension of cybercriminals.
ZachXBTβs investigative work has not been without controversy. In 2023, NFT trader Jeffrey Huang, also known as MachiBigBrother, sued ZachXBT for defamation after the blockchain investigator accused Huang of orchestrating multiple crypto scams in 2021. However, under pressure from the crypto community, Huang later dropped the lawsuit.
