- Low demand and limited usage led Tether to discontinue CNH₮ operations.

Tether said it will discontinue support for its offshore yuan stablecoin, CNH₮. The company confirmed that it has stopped issuing new CNH₮ tokens effective immediately. No further minting will take place.
The company stated that it reviews its token offerings based on demand and usage. It said CNH₮ no longer meets internal thresholds for continued operational support. “No additional CNH₮ tokens will be minted,” the company said.
Redemption to End in One Year
Tether confirmed that CNH₮ redemptions will remain available for one year from the announcement date. After that period, the company will end all redemption services for the token. It said it will issue a reminder before the final date.
Holders across supported blockchains must redeem their CNH₮ before the deadline. Until then, Tether will process redemptions under its existing terms of service. The company noted that “CNH₮ will remain redeemable under Tether’s terms until the deadline.”
Low Demand Cited in Review
Tether said the move follows an internal review of market conditions and product demand. The company reported that CNH₮ usage has remained limited compared with its other stablecoins.
It stated that the scale of CNH₮ no longer supports the resources required to maintain it. “CNH₮’s scale no longer justifies ongoing operational support,” the company said. Tether added that it prioritizes products with consistent activity and sustained demand.
Focus Shifts to Core Products
Tether said it will direct resources toward stablecoins and infrastructure with stronger adoption. The company reported plans to strengthen liquidity across its main tokens and expand tokenization services.
It said it remains committed to maintaining secure and reliable digital asset products. Tether added that it will continue supporting assets that show steady user activity and long-term relevance.
