About Avalanche
Avalanche: A Decentralized Solution for Custom Blockchain Networks
Avalanche is a platform that offers decentralized applications and custom blockchain networks. It competes directly with Ethereum, aiming to surpass its capabilities. Avalanche sets out to achieve this by processing up to 6,500 transactions per second, ensuring scalability remains intact.
Avalanche boasts a unique architecture that enables high transaction output. The network consists of three chains: the X-Chain, C-Chain, and P-Chain, each serving a specific purpose. This approach differentiates it from Bitcoin and Ethereum. Furthermore, Avalanche blockchains employ different consensus mechanisms based on their use cases.
Since its mainnet launch in 2020, Avalanche has been actively building its own ecosystem. Notably, several Ethereum-based projects, including SushiSwap and TrueUSD, have integrated with Avalanche. In addition, the platform focuses on enhancing interoperability between its ecosystem and Ethereum through the development of bridges.

Cascade Testnet: Exploratory Trials

Cascade marked the first public testnet introduction for Avalanche.
Denali Incentivized Testnet: Encouraging Participation
Date: May 2020. Type: Testnet Launch
Denali followed as the second public testnet for Avalanche. It incentivized users to run testnet nodes, with 2,000 AVAX tokens allocated to participants. The aim was to distribute a total of two million tokens to contributors.
Everest Mainnet Release Candidate: The Final Test Phase
Date: August 2020. Type: Testnet Launch
Everest served as a fully-featured version of the Avalanche network, acting as the final phase of testing ahead of the mainnet launch. It introduced support for NFT contracts, advanced smart contract utility, and network fees.
Avalanche Mainnet Launch: The Dawn of a New Era
Date: September 2020. Type: Mainnet Launch
On Sep. 21, 2020, the Avalanche mainnet was officially launched, with all three Avalanche chains unveiled: the P, X, and C chains. The network provided full EVM compatibility and a development toolkit through its Avalanche Contract Chain (C-Chain), which is an implementation of the EVM.
