Metal or MTL, introduced by the Metallicus company through ICO fundraising on June 20, 2017, is the official token used in the Metal Pay payment application.
Metal is a form of cryptocurrency operating on the Ethereum blockchain and follows ERC-20 standards. It enables individuals and banks to easily send and receive money through their mobile devices by utilizing blockchain technology. Metal utilizes a Proof-of-Processed-Payments (PoPP) system to verify users and convert fiat currency into crypto. While it functions similarly to Bitcoin, MTL offers a more user-friendly interface reminiscent of popular payment platforms such as Venmo or Paypal.

Metal aims to make transactions accessible to everyday users by providing services through an undisclosed service. This approach encourages peer-to-peer payments to transition away from traditional systems and adopt a decentralized network of crypto payments.
