A Brief Introduction to Harmony (ONE)

 Harmony is an open-source blockchain platform specifically designed for decentralized application (dApp) development. It incorporates a unique technique called state sharding, which divides the blockchain into segments for efficient transaction processing and data storage. The use of state sharding enables Harmony to achieve fast transaction speeds. Currently, Harmony operates with a network of one thousand nodes distributed across four shards. These shards work collaboratively to generate new blocks every eight seconds, ensuring the integrity of the blockchain without any competing forks.

The main objective of Harmony's mainnet is to revolutionize the creation of blocks by prioritizing processing speed and validation. The introduction of state sharding has significantly reduced the time required for node validation.

Harmony has implemented the Verifiable Random Function (VRF) to ensure the security of nodes and the validation process. This randomization technique enables unbiased and unpredictable shard membership assignments for nodes and validators.

The Harmony Grants program is an initiative by the project that aims to foster innovation and attract developers to the Harmony mainnet.
