About Osmosis

What is Osmosis?

Osmosis is an AMM DEX built using the Cosmos SDK and operating within the Cosmos ecosystem. This ecosystem is relatively new, and there are not many prominent projects in the DeFi space. However, with the current progress, I can predict that Cosmos will expand its DeFi space in the near future, and it is highly likely that Osmosis will become the liquidity center of the Cosmos system.
 
Osmosis will operate based on the AMM mechanism. This means that assets will not be traded through an Orderbook but will be swapped in a Liquidity Pool using a Smart Contract formula.

Key Features of Osmosis (OSMO)

The most notable feature of Osmosis is its versatility. The Osmosis team identified the following issues. Currently, popular AMMs like Uniswap do not support stablecoin assets, requiring users to turn to Curve Finance. When users want to mitigate the risk of Impermanent Loss, they have to use Balancer.
 
To address these problems, Osmosis was created. Some functions can be adjusted through Osmosis Governance:
 
Change transaction fee and liquidity withdrawal fee.
 
Enable actual management of the Pool by the pool creator or the community.
 
Add or remove supported assets in the AMM.
 
Create a Pool with a different Swap curve (similar to Curve Finance) => Suitable for Stable Assets.
 
Create a Pool with a different ratio of token values in the Pool (similar to Balancer) => Reduce the risk of Impermanent Loss.
 
By combining the strengths of Uniswap, Balancer, and Curve, Osmosis allows for flexible customization of functions within its Pool. This enables Osmosis to scale easily without the need to migrate liquidity, as seen in the transition from Uniswap v2 to Uniswap v3.
