Introducing SuperRare (RARE)

SuperRare is an outstanding NFT platform that has amassed nearly $90M of digital art and paid out $3M in artist royalties. In its 1.0 version, the core team of SuperRare personally selected artists and approved their works to be minted as SuperRare NFTs on a shared smart contract. However, SuperRare 2.0 transformed this process by implementing web-scale curation, enabling independent storefronts on the platform, and introducing sovereign minting contracts for artists to directly mint, promote, and sell their creations to collectors.

This evolution towards progressive decentralization led to SuperRare shifting ownership and governance of the network to the community. SuperRare 2.0 now operates as a DAO, a decentralized organization that manages key platform parameters, allocates funds from the Community Treasury, and votes on proposed network and protocol enhancements.

The Unique Aspects of SuperRare

SuperRare tackled three crucial issues to reach its 2.0 version:

1. A single team responsible for curation and gatekeeping does not facilitate a scalable art ecosystem.
2. Artists deserve maximum support, which is limited when reliant on a single team.
3. The NFT art ecosystem is fragmented, making it challenging to manage an entire collection.

To address these problems, SuperRare introduced SuperRare Spaces, which are independently-run storefronts on the platform. These Spaces have the ability to curate art and artists, promote sales, conduct auctions, and earn commissions. Each Space can even launch its own branded ERC-721 token and invite artists to create NFTs with them, either on a one-time basis or continuously. This empowering feature allows each Space to function as an autonomous crypto art gallery.

In addition, artists can utilize self-sovereign minting contracts to deploy custom NFT minting contracts. This enables them to tokenize and sell their art as independent artists, providing them with an alternative to minting on a shared contract with other artists. Consequently, artists can establish themselves as sovereign creators on their own creative platform.
