DeFi Kingdoms Departs Harmony For Blockchain That Focuses On The Metaverse

The Serendale-based portion of the blockchain-based game DeFi Kingdoms (DFK) has relocated to the Klaytn blockchain, which focuses on the metaverse, the developer has stated.

This means that DeFi Kingdoms will totally leave Harmony, a representative for the company said on Monday. The action was taken two months after the Harmony blockchain network revealed that Horizon, its cross-chain link to Ethereum, had been attacked. Nearly $100 million worth of ETH was stolen by hackers.

DFK will be the only one impacted; Crystalvale will continue to be on the DFK Chain, an Avalanche subnet.

The brand-new partner Klaytn was launched in 2019 and is a creation of South Korean internet juggernaut Kakao Corp. It changed direction earlier this year to become a chain with a metaverse, gaming, and creative focus.

Despite the fact that Kingdom Studios president Dreamer acknowledged in an AMA on Thursday that “this is another major chain paying for a collaboration with DFK” few specifics regarding the conditions of the new partnership with Klaytn have been made public.

“We have come to an agreement on good incentives for us to consider the move as being worth it not just for the initial work but also to extend our runway and to align our mutual interests in DFK and their success in Klaytn,” he said.

The choice is scarcely shocking. Due to issues working with Harmony, DeFi Kingdoms has been looking for a new blockchain for Serendale for some time.

DappRadar reports that $8.62m entered DFK’s smart contracts in the previous 30 days. The second-ranked Sushi Swap Harmony division brought in $6.16 million within the same time period, while Knights and Peasants, the second-largest game dapp, only brought in $14.68k.

On Thursday, the DFK community will have the opportunity to ask further questions via a Discord AMA.
