OSCE Taught Law Enforcement Officers In Uzbekistan To Conduct Crypto Investigations

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has trained Uzbek law enforcement professionals in crypto and dark web investigations. In Tashkent, the regional authority recently hosted a training session for the country’s security services workers.

Representatives from the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the State Security Service attended an OSCE training session on cryptocurrency and dark web investigations conducted in Tashkent from October 17 to 21.

According to the international security body’s website, the OSCE Transnational Threats Department arranged the training in collaboration with the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan and the Academy of the Prosecutor General’s Office. According to the announcement:

“Participants learned about the main concepts and key trends in the areas of internetworking, anonymity and encryption, cryptocurrencies, obfuscation techniques, dark web, and Tor networks.”

They also used numerous methodologies and procedures for crypto asset confiscation, blockchain analysis, and darknet searches. The materials used in training were given by the European Cybercrime Training and Education Group (ECTEG).

Before the course, Deputy Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan Erkin Yuldashev and Acting OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan Hans-Ulrich Ihm unveiled a new computer classroom supplied by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe to the Prosecutor General’s Academy.
