Vitalik Buterin Says “Something Important Is About To Happen”
The cryptocurrency industry is perplexed by a recent tweet from Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum.
Without providing any other information, Buterin tweeted that he had heard “through the grapevine” that “something major” was about to occur.
“Please recognize the fact that my elite social connections to people who are early to know things make me cool, and please help me validate my self-image of coolness,” the Canadian programmer added.
The cryptocurrency community is perplexed by Buterin’s strange tweet and is trying to determine whether he was intentionally making fun of the community or if he was trying to convey something.
Buterin’s covert caution follows a gloomy tweet from well-known VC Paul Graham, who claimed that the Bitcoin economy was set to encounter “a systemic danger” based on information he had learned from a reliable source. I have no definite information, but if I were exposed, I would be worried, he added.
It is possible that Buterin was simply mocking Graham’s vague warning of doom.
“Predicting an impending systemic risk to crypto is like predicting rain in England. Yep, you called it. Not news,” one Twitter user wrote.
Although Graham’s post was reportedly dismissed by the cryptocurrency community as useless FUD, there are still worries about whether other significant corporations may be impacted by the FTX situation.
