Former FTX Executive Nishad Singh Donating Millions Of Dollars To Democratic Party
Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of FTX, wasn’t the first business executive to contribute significantly to Democratic Party-affiliated initiatives. According to more than a dozen Federal Election Commission documents examined by CNBC, Nishad Singh discreetly started supporting Democrats a year after taking over as the company’s director of engineering.
Following a brief stint at Alameda Research, Singh joined FTX in 2019, and after the 2020 elections, he would donate more than $13 million to Democrats, according to CNBC, which cited state and federal campaign records.
According to CNBC, at least $8 million from Singh went to Democratic causes in the 2022 election cycle.
This included $1 million for a PAC supporting Joe Biden’s presidential campaign, $2 million for the Senate Majority PAC, a combined $4 million for Reproductive Freedom for All, and an additional $1 million for Mind the Gap, a super PAC started by Bankman-Fried’s mother.
Singh’s single political contribution before obtaining a top position in Sam Bankman- Fried‘s crypto enterprise was $2,700 to Rep. Sean Casten, D-Ill., in 2018.
Singh is ranked number 31st on the list of big donors to outside spending groups by nonpartisan campaign watchdog OpenSecrets.
