Bitcoin (BTC) Soars Up Leading To $600 Million Liquidations Hit Short Sellers

As Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and other cryptocurrencies surge, short sellers are drowning in a flood of liquidations. CoinGlass liquidation statistics indicated that the crypto markets have seen more than $180 million in liquidations in the previous 24 hours alone.
According to the crypto data platform, short sellers have been smacked with nearly $600 million in liquidations since January 14th.
Bitcoin liquidations have reached $51.27 million in the previous 24 hours. At the time of writing, the leading cryptocurrency by market size is trading at $21,159, up 23% in the previous seven days.
During the same time span, Ethereum liquidations totalled $65.80 million. At the time of writing, the largest smart contract platform by market size is trading for $1,580, up 19.67% from the previous week.
Despite recent network issues, Solana (SOL) liquidations have reached $6.48 million in the previous day. The 11th-largest cryptocurrency by market value is now selling for $23.68, up 45.65% from the previous week.
Aptos (APT), the 40th-largest cryptocurrency by market value, has also surpassed over $4 million in the previous 24 hours, reaching $4.87 million at the time of writing. APT is currently trading at $8.12, up 105% in the previous seven days.
Last but not least, according to CoinGlass, liquidations of Dogecoin (DOGE) meme tokens had reached $3.26 million in the previous day. At the time of writing, DOGE is trading for $0.0836, up 14% from the previous week.
