Twitter has started introducing “Tips,” a feature that allows users to deposit bitcoin or cash. The rollout begins with iOS users and will be rolled out to Android shortly.

“After we tested the tips feature, it turns out that people love money. Available for iOS and soon for Android. With tips, you can deposit tips in Bitcoin or cash, depending on how you have configured your tips settings and the regional availability of third-party payment providers, ”the company said.

Twitter support has explained how to use the new restricted feature as follows:

Esther Crawford, product manager for Twitter, explains that an icon will appear next to the Follow button on the profile page when an account has tips enabled.

In addition to the services currently enabled through Tips, people can now seamlessly earn Bitcoin with Strike – a payment app based on the Bitcoin Lightning Network that allows anyone to send and receive Bitcoin. Strike offers instant and free global payouts. “

Strike is available in the United States, with the exception of Hawaii and New York, as well as El Salvador, where Bitcoin is now legal tender alongside the US dollar. Users in Eligible Markets can sign up for a Strike account and add their Strike username to receive Bitcoin tips through Lightning Network.

In addition to Strike, other payment platforms and options currently include Bandcamp, Cash App, Chipper, Gofundme, Patreon, Picpay, Razorpay, Wealthsimple Cash and Venmo from PayPal.
