Twitter has implemented bitcoin-limited features, including support for Lightning wallets as part of a larger factory to support developers on the platform. The company even announced that BTC is operating without a global barrier, stating that the crypto initiatives will help participate in the “growing decentralized news.”

Twitter users have two ways to use BTC tips.

The first comes through a menu of payment options, including Square’s Cash app and Go Fund Me, which allow users to tip or deposit in a more conventional way on a BTC address. The other option is Strike, a bitcoin payment application built on top of the Lightning Network as a Layer 2 service to improve speed and reduce transaction costs. Twitter says BTC tips will be available to anyone around the world using iOS devices starting Thursday, and that support for Android devices will be in the near future. The company even sent out a series of tweets showing how users can take advantage of the feature.

The tip recommendation comes when the company starts working quickly on community and payment products to help users monetize their activity on the platform. Products that are already available to a smaller group of people include a service called Super Followers and Space, which allow users to host events for the public. The announcement includes plans to investigate NFTs for authentication as they allow anyone to create unique digital artifacts on the blockchain. Twitter provided an image that shows “Twitter NFT” but actually little details of what exactly the company is doing with the NFT. Operating company Esther Crawford speak:

“It’s a way to support the creators in making this work of art with a stamp to prove authenticity. By allowing people to connect their Bitcoin wallets, they can track and showcase their NFT possessions on Twitter. “

Crawford claims that the NFT can take the form of a badge and clearly state that it is an authenticated avatar, suggesting that the tools could implement Twitter’s existing system to give the user a blue tick. A Twitter spokesperson declined to say whether blockchain will be chosen to host NFTs or when the feature will be available, but the company has announced other products as well, including an extension of the character limit, scheduled tweets, and developer support who use Spaces.
