Democrat Eric Adams, who said he plans to make New York City the “hub of Bitcoin” if the mayor is elected, won the race against Republican Curtis Sliwa.
According to the November 2nd election results, Adams will replace Bill de Blasio as Mayor of New York City, defeating Sliwa and the other candidates with 72.8% of the vote. He is expected to take office on January 1st.
It’s official – our five-area knock-on-out-of-voter campaign is a success: we won the race for Mayor of New York City!
This is my dream come true, and I couldn’t be more proud to represent the city we all love than your elected Mayor.

During his mayoral election, Adams promised to make New York City a technology hub that would be “the center of cybersecurity, the center of self-driving cars, the center of drones, the driver, the heart of Bitcoin”. In June, he beat crypto-friendly businessman Andrew Yang as a Democratic Party candidate.
Several U.S. jurisdictions held elections for local and state governments yesterday, bringing in a number of candidates who previously supported pro-crypto law and policy. In Miami, Francis Suarez – he has been mayor since 2017 – was re-elected with 78.7% of the vote.

New York State is often the center of media attention regarding the regulation and enforcement of crypto companies in the United States. The New York attorney general, which was responsible for settling the Bitfinex and Tether case, agreed in February to pay $ 18.5 million in damages and order Coinseed to shut down after the accused company was forced to attract investors to cheat more than 1 million dollars.
While major federal elections in the United States can sometimes affect the crypto market, many senators and state officials will not run for their seats until 2022 at the earliest, which includes Mayor Jayson Stewart of Cool Valley, Missouri. In August, Stewart proposed giving away more than $ 1 million in Bitcoin (BTC) to about 1,500 residents of the city.
