Telegram Wallet Introduces Zero-Fee USDT Purchases

The feature is powered by The Open Network (TON) in partnership with Mercuryo, a payment infrastructure provider. It aims to lower deposit costs and enhance stablecoin adoption.

Telegram Wallet, integrated within the Telegram messaging app, supports transactions in Toncoin (TON), Bitcoin (BTC), and Tether (USDT). The platform enables users to conduct transactions without relying on external exchanges.

Beyond basic transactions, Telegram Wallet offers peer-to-peer (P2P) trading services, allowing users to buy and sell cryptocurrencies directly. Additionally, the wallet facilitates instant, fee-free transfers between Telegram accounts, making digital assets as seamless to exchange as regular messages.

Tether Faces Regulatory Hurdles in Europe

The introduction of zero-fee USDT purchases in Telegram Wallet offers users a cost-effective way to acquire the stablecoin.

Meanwhile, Tether faces regulatory challenges in Europe as the region adapts to the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework. Major exchanges, including Coinbase, Kraken, and Crypto.com, have signalled plans to delist USDT to comply with evolving regulations.

Beyond cryptocurrency, Tether is diversifying its investments. The company recently acquired a strategic minority stake in Juventus Football Club, a globally recognized Italian team.
