Binance hacker alert has been issued following reports of hackers stealing users’ coins through the platform’s red envelope feature.

Hackers Exploit Binance Red Envelope Feature for Crypto Theft

In response to the community’s claim that some Binance user accounts were hacked and that hackers stole coins through red envelopes, Binance co-founder He Yi responded on the X platform, stating that the user’s email, Binance account, and Google verification were all compromised. The user was aware that their account had been hacked.

According to Binance Customer Support, the incident likely stemmed from users unknowingly installing malicious plug-ins or software on their devices. These malicious tools enabled hackers to steal sensitive personal data, including email credentials, Google Authenticator codes, Binance account information, and details from other linked accounts.

The Binance hacker alert highlights that hackers simulated the users’ commonly used devices and IP environments. This tactic allowed them to bypass Binance’s verification processes for red envelope transactions successfully, ultimately leading to the theft of funds.

Binance clarified that sending red envelopes on its platform requires multiple verification steps. Users must verify their payment PIN, fingerprint or face ID, authentication apps, or email. The breach occurred because hackers had already obtained all the necessary personal information, allowing them to exploit the red envelope feature.

Binance Urges Immediate Action to Protect Assets

In response to the Binance hacker alert, Binance strongly advised the affected users to contact law enforcement to handle the incident immediately. A Binance spokesperson stated, “Our security risk control team will assist in providing all available information and, together with user cooperation, thoroughly investigate the affected devices to determine the root cause.”

Additionally, Binance issued another Binance hacker alert, reminding all users to remain vigilant and prioritize account safety. The company emphasized the need for secure and clean devices, urging users to stay alert to potential security risks. “Improving safety awareness and regularly updating security measures are essential steps to protect personal assets,” Binance added.

Recently, Bybit also reported a serious hacking incident that caused a $1.4 billion Ether loss to the platform and affected the assets of many users. Hackers used similar techniques in the Binance hacker alert case, including stealing login information and bypassing security authentication steps. This incident further raises alarms about the need to enhance personal security and use safe devices when participating in cryptocurrency transactions.
