No more FreeTon, meet Everscale, one of the most advanced blockchains in the industry!
Press release
What’s the best way to remove all legacy from a project? That’s right, rename it. FreeTon, started by another team as a continuation of the old TON blockchain, has deviated slightly from the original design. It’s a brand new project that surpasses many existing blockchain architectures and demonstrates a new approach to building decentralized networks – unlimited decentralization, native smart contracts, blockchains. The native storage, immutable token minting, and decentralization have been carefully designed.
With so much time and effort put into building such a network, it was strange keeping the branding of the old project, which also brought the stigma of failure with it.
So the old FreeTON had to go and the network got a new name and brand. Its new name is easy to remember as it reflects a key concept: Everscale.
Initially, the community suggested several names, such as Hyperscale, Nucleus, Seqond, Scaled, Protos, and Finality. After a month of intensive discussions, the commissioning of a consulting company and several voting meetings, the name was chosen by the majority of the community members through the DAO. The name FreeTON raises many questions. “Why is it free?” or “Is it a fork from TON?” Everscale is a more mature brand that reflects the growth of the network and is geared towards scaling.
Other parts of the brand also give the impression of a stronger network. The old TONE blue has been changed to a combination of orange, yellow and purple. This new palette is used to create a calming visual style that focuses on space, depth and light.
The new emblem is also a symbol for TON, which has the same shape but rotated at a different angle and also has some depth and perspective and incorporates other elements of the Everscale branding.
Along with the new branding, Evescale launched the network’s official website with extensive documentation available to developers and users. Developers who want to become part of the agile network can dive into the developer guide, try out the test environment, the developer tools and the block explorer.
Everscale is a new generation blockchain project. Some people might get tired of hearing this, but it combines everything that its predecessors did so far in the blockchain space and takes it to the next level. It is comparable in speed to Solana, it is as secure as Ethereum and thanks to sharding it is practically infinitely scalable. It scales horizontally and vertically, its top throughput on the mainnet exceeds 65,000 transactions per second, and that’s just the beginning.
The new branding and name open the next chapter for the project as it can now compete with the big players in the industry. Who will win this blockchain race? We do not know. But we know Evescale is a serious contender now.
