Fortunately, nobody was in the house, so there were no injuries. However, the fire damaged many GPUs. It is worth noting that these devices are being “hunted down” due to a serious shortage of goods in the market.
In early 2021, cryptocurrency miners will buy up to 25% of the GPU volume with around 700,000 high-end and mid-range graphics cards. Those looking to buy cheap GPUs look forward to Ethereum moving to a PoS consensus to reduce the need for GPUs as it eliminates a lot of mining. The transition was originally planned for this year, but has now been postponed to 2022.

Mining cryptocurrencies consumes a lot of electricity. One of the reasons Sweden is asking Europe to make this activity illegal in the region is because the Bitcoin mining industry in Sweden itself uses 200,000 households in electricity. This “huge” energy requirement is not only harmful to the environment, but also harbors many potential dangers: If the devices are not adequately equipped to supply 72 servers with power, damage can very easily occur.
