Right now the lowest price for 1 punk currently on sale is 66 ETH, around $ 258,000.

But are there really 10,000 punks on the market today?

5 punk is definitely lost

After a series tweets by @ punk9863, up to 300 punks can be lost forever, 5 of which must have been lost through the fault of the owner. In fact there are 5 known “burned” punks, 1 “alien” punk was accidentally burned by @ArtOnBlockchain, 2 punk was sent to the token contract (a fatal error, the token actually burned) and 2 punk was sent to an incorrect address and burned with it (an equally bad mistake).

Why it can be assumed that the rest of the 300 punks have also been lost, @ punk9863 indicates that there has been no activity on the owner’s wallet in the last three years.

“Over 50 punk wallets have not made any transactions in the last 1,000 days, even outside of the CryptoPunk marketplace.”

A good reason is that the wallet owner has lost their private key.

The 50 wallets contain a total of almost 300 punks, including 1 “zombie”, 26 “hoodie”, 12 “3D” and 5 “tiara”. This is one of the rarest CryptoPunks and is considered more valuable than others. Four of these wallets contain more than 10 punk, one of which contains 141 punk.

The lost punk number is worth $ 100 million

Is this 300 punk really lost? I can’t be sure, but their owners haven’t acted in over three years.

CryptoPunk # 2838 is said to be lost forever.

The market can only assume that these punks have been lost. At the current reserve price, this 300 punk is worth the equivalent of 20,000 ETH, around $ 80 million at the time of writing. However, many of these punks, not called punks, have reserve prices so the total value could be up to $ 100 million.

According to @ punk9863, that’s an understatement.

“I only count wallets that have not been traded for more than three years. According to other estimates, based on unclaimed meebit, more than 500 punks are forecast. ”

In total, it is possible that only 9,500 CryptoPunks are alive.
