The former heavyweight boxing champion posted a status line on his personal Twitter and asked fans: “Which do you prefer? Bitcoin or Ethereum? “

So far, the tweet has garnered 12.8k comments, 4.3k retweets and 26k likes. Interestingly, while these are important numbers on their own, they’re much higher than his standard tweets.

Tyson also recently signaled his interest in NFTs, making it clear that he wants to make waves in the crypto space.

Tyson is not known as a tech freak, at least not as a crypto advocate. But recently he’s reinvented himself as an entertainer.

Now that blockchain technology is becoming a more spiritual part of the digital age, Tyson is trying his hand at cryptocurrency.

This month, Tyson announced that it is partnering with 1ofOne to bring an exclusive NFT kit to market.

“1ofOne, the newest and most efficient full-service innovation agency in the NFT space, is proud to announce its launch today. 1ofOne will be the exclusive NFT studio developing the first official Mike Tyson NFT series. “

The 1ofOne platform exploded in May and gained momentum with the help of Quincy Jones. Through its connections, 1ofOne has secured the service of many A-listers, including Doja Cat and John Legend.

The agency is trying to disrupt the NFT space by reforming the fan experience and running on a more environmentally friendly Tezos platform (than Ethereum) to mint and issue NFTs.

So far, only a few details were known about Tyson’s NFT collection. In anticipation, however, Tyson posted a photo of what appears to be a cartoon cat wearing a Viking-style jacket and helmet. He also changed his Twitter profile picture to the same.

There is no accompanying text explaining this character’s involvement. But many thought it could be a trailer for Tyson’s upcoming NFT drop.

Several crypto heavyweights responded to Tyson’s question as to whether they prefer Bitcoin or Ethereum.

MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor was the top responder due to the popularity of his tweet. Saylor said he also spent a lot of time thinking about that question. It is not surprising that he supported Bitcoin because he believes it is the future of digital assets.

“Mike, I’ve spent over a thousand hours looking at this question and choosing Bitcoin. So far, I’ve bought $ 2.9 billion worth of BTC because I think this is the future of digital assets. I posted tons of free #bitcoin training on http://hope.com. “

Another user said that Bitcoin falls short when there is a valid use case. Because of this, he prefers Ethereum.

Ray Youssef, Paxful’s chief executive officer, also responded to Tyson’s questions. “It’s great to have you with Mike,” commented Youssef. “Bitcoin is halal money and peace, honestly.”

Youssef added:

“Ethereum as a platform for defi is a trading platform without permission. Both have their place, but I think the majority of Bitcoins and Africans use it every day to escape economic racism. “
