Elon Musk Tweets Interstellar Crypto Meme, Causing Dogecoin to Skyrocket.

Elon Musk has tweeted a famous Interstellar joke concerning crypto volatility.

After Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted a famous cryptocurrency meme inspired by Christopher Nolan’s epic science fiction movie Interstellar, the price of meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin jumped nearly 2% to an intraday high of $0.167.

The meme alludes to the occurrences of severe gravitational time dilation described in the blockbuster film.

Interstellar takes place when a widespread crop plague and a second Dust Bowl will gradually leave Earth uninhabitable in the future. Professor Brand (Michael Caine), a brilliant NASA scientist, is working on plans to preserve humanity by sending Earth’s inhabitants via a wormhole to a new world. But first, Brand must dispatch former NASA pilot Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) and a team of scientists through the wormhole and across the galaxy to determine which of three worlds may be humanity’s future home.

After landing on Miller, a water planet orbiting very close to a hypothetical black hole named Gargantua, Joseph Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) informs his team that due to tremendous gravity, seven years on Earth are equal to just one hour there.

A screenshot from the aesthetically arresting sequence starring Amelia Brand (Anne Hathaway) and Doyle (Wes Bentley) became a meme a few years after Interstellar’s release, garnering momentum on Facebook and Reddit.

Because Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are extremely volatile, the amazing time dilation notion, which is key to the movie’s narrative, has also become a source of jokes among the cryptocurrency community.

Last year, the largest meme coin, Dogecoin, increased 19,090% in just three months, making some of its investors incredibly wealthy in a relatively short period of time. The canine currency is now down 77.5% from its all-time high.

Because of the volatile nature of cryptocurrency, people’s sentiments frequently shift, with many becoming negative or bullish following a single large move in either direction.

Elon Musk, whose frequent tweets about Dogecoin drove the surge last year, helped to reignite interest in DOGE earlier this month by making select Tesla merchandise available for purchase with the original meme coin.
