The United Nations Will Commemorate International Women’s Day With Boss Beauties Ethereum NFTs.
The United Nations female-led initiative will be the first whole NFT collection to be displayed at the UN.
The Ethereum NFT line aimed for ladies On March 8—International Women’s Day—Boss Beauties will unveil a one-of-a-kind collection named Boss Beauty Role Models in New York City, which will become the first entire NFT collection ever presented at United Nations headquarters.
On OpenSea, the entire Boss Beauties NFT collection of 10,000 assets now has a floor price—or minimum “Buy Now” price—of 2.3 Ethereum—roughly $7,000 per item. The project, which debuted in September, now ranks 123rd on OpenSea’s list of the best NFT collections of all time, based on secondary volume trading sales.
NFTs are one-of-a-kind tokens that exist on a blockchain such as Ethereum or Solana and represent the token holder’s ownership of a digital or physical object.
Last year, the United Nations supported a competition called DigitalArt4Climate, in which artists were challenged to create various climate change-themed NFTs, with the outstanding artworks shown during the Climate Change Conference in Scotland.
So, while the Role Models will not be the first NFTs exhibited by the UN, they will be the first female-focused collection to be featured—and will almost definitely provide significant attention for works created by a female artist. According to a November analysis from ArtTactic, an art market analytics organization, female artists received just 5% of all NFT sales from February 2020 to November 2021—and women make up 16% of all NFT artists.
