Binance Charity Makes a $2.5 Million Crypto Donation to Help Ukrainian Children

Binance Charity has made a 2.5 million USD equivalent crypto gift to UNICEF to help the organization’s life-saving work for children and families in Ukraine and host countries.

UNICEF commended Binance for its donation in an official statement, ensuring that the money arrived at the correct time, since the intensification of the armed conflict is having a significant impact on the people.

The violence is posing an immediate and escalating threat to the lives and well-being of the country’s 7.5 million children as it increases. Humanitarian need are growing by the hour. Many children have been badly damaged as a result of the violence that affects them. Hundreds of thousands of people have fled, and families have been separated from their loved ones.

Binance Charity’s donation comes at a critical time for UNICEF, which needs to expand its operations in Ukraine and neighboring countries in order to reach every child in need of protection.

CZ, Founder and CEO of Binance, said:

“The rate at which this conflict is escalating has shocked the world. To think just over a week ago Ukraine’s children were laughing, playing, attending school; and now we’re hearing of children casualties, thousands forced to flee or take shelter, it’s heartbreaking. We’re grateful for our ongoing collaboration with UNICEF, which with the support of the Binance community, provides emergency relief to help ease some of the suffering these children and their families are facing.”

Currently, UNICEF’s actions for children and their families include: providing safe water, healthcare, education, and protection; prepositioning health, hygiene, and emergency education supplies as close to the point of contact as feasible; and Working with towns to guarantee that children and families in need receive prompt assistance, among other things

Carla Hadid Mardini, Director of UNICEF’s Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division in Geneva, said:

“We thank Binance Charity for their quick support which will help us at this critical time,”

Binance Charity has a continuous partnership with UNICEF through its Luxembourg Committee, having worked together to give help in the aftermath of the Beirut Explosion and to support COVID-19 worldwide immunization initiatives (COVAX).
