Skechers, Global Footwear Company, Opens Store In Metaverse
Skechers, a global shoe brand, is on track to open an immersive store in Decentraland’s Fashion Street Estate. Skechers has leased the equivalent of a 5,000-square-foot site on Metaverse Group’s virtual land to open an immersive store in the Decentraland Metaverse’s Fashion Street Estate.

Recently filed trademark applications to sell virtual things such as footwear and clothing, setting the framework for future Metaverse expansion.
Skechers has so far filed eight trademark applications for its Sketchers, Bobs, GoWalk, ArchWalk, and Twinkle Toes brands, the most recent of which was filed last month. Other well-known sporting brands that have submitted trademark applications for virtual goods include Under Armour, Puma, and New Balance.
Nike is another footwear brand that springs to mind when it comes to virtual goods and retail stores, as it has filed further trademark claims for Nike and Nikeland.
Since Facebook changed its name to Meta, there has been a lot of chatter about the Metaverse—spaces where virtual reality and gaming meet. Metaverse is an important component of Web3, the next generation of the Internet that stresses user ownership of data and digital assets, and it has attracted the interest of some of the world’s most powerful corporations.
