Adrian Grenier: Crypto can ‘fix a lot of the systems that are broken’
Adrian Grenier, the “Entourage” star, who recently stated that Bitcoin will eventually replace fiat currencies like as the US dollar, said that crypto can “fix a lot of the systems that are broken currently, and are quite wasteful across all industries.” according to Yahoo Finance.
Adrian Grenier, a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador, defended bitcoin mining, which opponents believe damages the environment owing to its large energy use.
“[There’s] a trade off for all things,” Grenier noted, calling himself a “realist” when it comes to potential impact.
But, he said, “crypto isn’t just a thing that uses energy,” He went on to say that cryptocurrencies are valuable assets that would “fix many industries to be more efficient,” and that “if you look at the global net benefit, I think it’s a positive one.”
Grenier, who left Hollywood and moved to Texas to build his own community farm, previously stated that he intends to raise his own food and trade locally using digital currencies.
Grenier has backed another emerging business, space travel, in addition to cryptocurrency.
The actor just joined World View, a firm that specializes in stratospheric ballooning and space tourism, as its Chief Earth Advocate. Grenier will “support World View’s mission to rediscover Earth,” the firm stated in a news announcement, “inspiring new perspectives on the planet and encouraging deeper respect for it as a living organism.”
The job “perfectly aligned with my heart, my spirit and the work that I’ve been doing for a long time.” Grenier told Yahoo Finance.
“World View’s mission isn’t to leave the planet and escape…it’s actually to peer back down and reflect upon our interconnectedness.”
World View has announced the extension of its services, which includes a low-cost entry into the space tourism and exploration business. Ryan Hartman, World View President & CEO, said:
“It’s all about creating attainable access. We believe that the benefits of space tourism are something that should be shared with as many people as possible,”
He went on to say that the company will be conducting stratospheric flights over the Grand Canyon, the Great Barrier Reef, and the Giza Pyramids, among other places.
With available finance, tickets will cost $50,000, which is much less than competitors like Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin, which aims to charge a stunning $250,000 per ticket, or Virgin Galactic’s (SPCE) $450,000 journeys.
“It’s most important to understand that the experience itself is 6 to 8 hours long, so it’s going to give our customers an opportunity to truly take in the beauty of the Earth, the fragility of the earth and see it as a living organism and as something bigger than themselves,”
