YouTube Bans a Bankless Crypto Channel

Bankless, which claimed 150,000 YouTube followers for its Ethereum-focused newsletter and podcast, said it had been suspended from the network without warning or explanation.

The channel Bankless, which has over 10,000 hours of content and included people including Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin

Announced its account had been cancelle.

When you try to access the channel, you get a message that says “This page isn’t available.” Not everyone is bankrupt. Gabriel Haines.eth and the Optimism Collective, both educational web 3 crypto accounts, were also shut down.

Officials from YouTube were unavailable for comment at the time of publication; nevertheless, commenters on Bankless’ Twitter thread said things like “Wow guys, I finally get why we need web3,” which would prevent an organization from shutting down a channel through decentralization.

The Bankless channel’s removal may not be permanent, nor does it necessarily indicate that YouTube discovered anything improper in the channel’s material. Other channels have been shut down by Facebook without reason in the past, only to be reinstated later, again without explanation.
