Binance appoints an ex-Deputy United States Attorney to supervise its legal

Binance, a global cryptocurrency exchange, has appointed a professional deputy general attorney who previously worked as a federal prosecutor specializing on crypto offences in California.

Joshua Eaton will handle the platform’s legal affairs while also assisting worldwide adherence and inspections and collaborating with law enforcement in his new job. The exchange made the announcement on Wednesday.

Binance has recently been troubled by legal issues, having won a rejection of a dispute over cryptoassets in late March. Investors had filed a lawsuit against the firm for breaking US disclosure rules by offering unlicensed cryptocurrencies and illegally possessing as an exchange or financial adviser.

Eaton was essential in building standard-bearing compliance and regulatory processes over his 20-year tenure with Department of Justice (DOJ) as well as the United States Army, according to Binance’s General Counsel Hon Ng.

According to the platform, Eaton, as a prosecutor, pushed and reinforced the office’s crucial function in investigating and prosecuting crypto offenses without criticizing the technology or its legal applications. Attempts to contact Eaton and Binance officials were unsuccessful at first. Eaton joins the company at a time when attempts to manage the cryptocurrency business are intensifying, something the CEO Changpeng Zhao endorses.
