Dogecoin and Ether rank among the top ten news internet searches in 2021
Ether and the famous memecoin Dogecoin, two major cryptocurrencies, entered Google’s list of the world’s most searched news phrases in 2021.
Google announced its annual list of the top searches for the year on Tuesday, categorizing them into numerous categories such as searches, news, people, games, movies, and others.
Dogecoin was the fourth-most popular news search phrase on Google in 2021, according to Google Trends’ “Year in Search 2021,” both internationally and individually in the United States. The news item “Ethereum Price” was rated six place behind, in number 10.
Among the most sought news items are cryptocurrency, Afghanistan, AMC stock, COVID-19 vaccination, GME stock, stimulus check, and others. What fascinating is that, in 2020, there was not a single cryptocurrency on the list.
It’s, however, worth noticing that Bitcoin (BTC), the market’s most valuable cryptocurrency, isn’t represented in any category of the “Year in Search 2021,” either globally or in the United States.
Since the launch of the SHIB’s rival, DOGE has skyrocketed as one of the most prominent cryptocurrencies in 2021, having entered the top ten largest cryptocurrencies by market value already this year. DOGE’s price has risen tremendously this year, owing in large part to support from Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who began aggressively pushing DOGE on Twitter in 2020.
Over the last year period, DOGE has increased at almost 5,100%, almost 8 times when compared to 632% growth of Ether in the same period. Bitcoin, on the other hand, has increased by roughly 160% in the last year.
