Legends of Venari is an Ethereum-based NFT-based creature collection RPG. Players can explore the planet Caerras in order to “capture” Venari monster NFTs. The game employs an organic growth strategy, with Alpha and Base passes being used to produce more passes for new users to be onboarded.

The project offers the ability to lend out Passes as assets to your guild. Building a game that is enjoyable to play is one of the team’s core values. They are focused on providing good gameplay, events, and content updates on a regular basis.

First Core Value

Fun Gameplay

Their first key value is to create an entertaining and engaging game. Legends of Venari’s staff are all gamers at heart. At the end of the day, they are creating a game that they actually want to play while taking in and adding elements from blockchain technology that elevate the gameplay to another level. When designing Legends of Venari, they want to make sure that the user always has a goal to look forward to and that the time spent is meaningful.

They want to expand the experience of limited time drops in the NFT realm without incurring the initial expense of minting NFTs. As a result, in order to reproduce that atmosphere, they will organize many unique events using limited edition Venari that will only be accessible for a limited time. Some of the events they may hold are holiday-related. Occasionally, they will work with well-known NFT initiatives in this sector to organize unique events.

In order to keep the content engaging, they will be removing Venari from the pool of available Venari to be caught and adding new Venari as each Season progresses. Each season will last around 3-4 months and will bring new features, locations, and enhancements.

Thoughtful Gameplay

Bot prevention: Bots, according to the team, are inherent in the majority of blockchain games. Other games deal with bots in a variety of ways, ranging from outright banning them to mitigating them via captchas. They recognize that if there is money to be made, someone will exploit it in some way. With these considerations in mind, Legends of Venari wishes to create a mechanism in the core game where there is no added benefit to building a bot. The team has established two primary factors that allow the ordinary player to play at the same level as a bot.

Energy Consumption: Each account’s actions are limited by energy. Every hour, up to a maximum cap, energy is restored. Energy is utilized to catch Venari, and each day, a user has the chance to acquire a particular quantity of Venari.

Game Design: Legends of Venari is a competition to determine who can acquire the rarest Venari. Users that play ideally will fare far better than a bot that clicks at random. By optimal gameplay, users must choose the best baits to use in each place, the greatest rigs to use to catch the Venari, the best Venari actions, and the Venari they personally wish to catch. All of these considerations make building and programming a bot extremely challenging.

Fair Gameplay

You will have the same opportunities to catch Venari whether you have a Gilded Pass or a Base Pass. This means that the only factors influencing your capacity to catch Venari are time and effort. The team believes that the combination of these characteristics will provide inherent value to Venari.

All Venari that will ever exist in the game has been caught by someone who put in the time and effort to do so. They will not be selling or airdropping Venari to users as a firm.

Second Core Value

Their second core value is quality. From the artwork to their code, they strive to build the highest quality product out there given our resources. Legends of Venari is a fairly basic game of catching Venari with progression.

However, what makes the game is the look and feel. From the environment that the creatures are in, locations that the user can travel to, the different variations and types of Venari to collect, it becomes much more than a game but a world to explore. They are starting with a great foundation in order to expand this project to become a brand, allowing them to go into merch and eventually the Metaverse.

Third Core Value

Legends of Venari is a game that will be built for the community and by the community. They are constantly engaging with our community through discord and getting feedback on a daily basis.

For future features, such as open-world gameplay and battling systems, they will be taking their community’s feedback into account. The team believes that it is crucial that they build with the community and build a game that the community wants to play.

Gameplay

The goal of Legends of Venari is to catch and collect Venari. The core game loop is focused on using bait to attract Venari, catching Venari with rigs, and gaining gold and experience to get better rigs and better bait, in order to attract and catch unique Venari.

Starting out in Tecta, users place bait to start attracting Venari. When a bait is placed, Venari will slowly appear in one of the six squares. A cooldown appears which shows when Venari will stop spawning. Up to 6 Venari may spawn with one bait.

You may also select a Venari before the cooldown is up to try and catch it. Selecting a bush is a random Venari that remains hidden until the expedition screen.

 

Venari

The project designed the following features to ensure Venari is collectible and has demand and worth throughout time. These qualities will be seen during the Alpha launch. Each Venari that is caught by a user is randomly generated with special characteristics.

Badges

• Genesis: A badge indicating that the Venari was caught during the Alpha season
• Event: A badge indicating that the Venari was caught during a limited time event
• Serialized: A badge (with a specified number) indicating that this was one of the first 100 Venari to be ever caught.

Elements

The Venari’s appearance is determined by elements. Each Venari now has six different elements to choose from:

• Fire
• Earth
• Water
• Air
• Nature
• Ice.

During the Alpha season, the team will deploy 19 Venari, each with six varieties. As a result, there are 114 different Venari accessible for capture at launch.

Constellations

Each creature is linked with one constellation. Constellations are connected with a certain rarity. In a future release, constellations will establish Venari’s base stats.

Size

Each Venari is randomly generated with a size. Venari can be XS, S, M, L, or XL. Some sizes are rarer than others.

Current Ecosystem

Current L2 options, such as Optimism and Arbitrum, are still in the early stages of development and lack sufficient liquidity to make the transfer profitable. Furthermore, the on and offramps of these networks discourage the majority of users.

In a blockchain game, trust is everything. At the moment, game developers have complete control over their ecosystem, as they should. Creating new material, deciding where the game will go, and creating fresh and intriguing experiences. To construct these, a centralized organization and team are required. With each new experience, new assets are developed and disseminated.

The team intends to have the most valuable assets on Ethereum. All of the passes, commemorative airdrops, Venari, and future tokens are included. They intend to make each Venari optionally mintable. They want the user to have a nice user experience when it comes to gameplay and earning Venari. As a result, all games will be off-chain. Their backend server is the central source of truth for Legends of Venari.

In terms of a game, they believe that the user experience is everything. They are willing to give up some decentralization to improve our users’ experience. The team does not want their users to have to jump through hoops in order to play our game.

All gameplay in Legends of Venari will take place on the server. Users can play Legends of Venari from any browser as long as they have a pass activated on their account. This alleviates much of the friction that now plagues L2s and positions them to break into mainstream gaming.

Technical Data

Lending

The pass system is the ticket needed to start playing Legends of Venari. By lending your pass to someone else, you can get the following benefits:

• Percentage Fee: You will be able to earn a percentage fee every single time your lendee sells any Venari earned. This percentage fee is set by the owner of the alpha pass and can range between 0 – 100%. The percentage fee is built into our marketplace and users will receive their percentage fee for every single transaction, sent directly to the user’s wallet.
• Earnable Passes: All passes can earn additional passes with active gameplay. The approximate time of earning a pass takes around 1 month of active gameplay. By lending your pass out, the lendee will earn progress towards unlocking additional passes.

How Lending Works

Passes are activated on a 1 day period. When you activate a pass, whether it is for your account or someone else’s account, the user’s account is activated for 1 day, and your pass is put on a 1-day cooldown. This cooldown means you cannot activate the pass anymore until the cooldown is up.

Legends of Venari add a cooldown to prevent abuse of activating multiple accounts at once. By adding a cooldown, the team can ensure that at most, there is 1 account activated per pass. Without a cooldown, a user can create thousands of accounts, passing along the activation through all the accounts and abusing the overall system.

Once you own a pass, you can share your profile with your guild. Your profile will have your inventory and all your passes. When your lendee has created an account, they may select a request button to show their interest in being lent your pass. By then they have agreed to your set percentage fee.

Finally, you should see a list of lendees who have requested to borrow your pass, you can easily select the borrow button and it will activate the pass for the lendee. There is no fee or transaction needed.

Caerras Credits

Caerras Credits, abbreviated $CC, are the premium money in Legends of Venari. When building a token and considering the Tokenomics surrounding the token, they wanted to ensure that the game remained balanced and did not require pay to win.

The team did not want to issue a token for their token launch since it would divert attention away from our core game. Legends of Venari genuinely wants players to play the game in order to capture uncommon and interesting Venari, putting the value on the Venari themselves rather than a token.

Marketplace

Their secondary marketplace is vital for Legends of Venari to thrive. Users will be able to sell their Venari for $CC or ETH. The majority of Venari caught while playing the game will be off-chain NFTs.

These NFTs have an ID and can optionally be minted on the Ethereum network. They intend to facilitate the sale of these off-chain NFTs as they construct their marketplace. For the following reasons, the team decided to establish their own marketplace rather than use OpenSea.

Building out a marketplace contract, they can allow the ability for users to list their Venari for sale for $ETH or CC.

• When listing for ETH, there is no transaction needed (compared to OpenSea).
• Furthermore, there is no transaction needed to adjust the listing price up or down. (Opensea only allows the user to adjust the price down and it needs a transaction).
• A transaction only happens for the buyer when they are purchasing for ETH.
• For Pass lenders, the fees will be split automatically to your wallet for each single transaction.

For our $CC marketplace, there are no gas fees for buying and selling Venari.

Backers

Legends of Venari has around ten full-time people working on the game from all over the world. They are gamers at heart, and they are incredibly enthusiastic about creating a game that we genuinely want to play. They are based in Delaware, but operate remotely and have team members from all around the world.

Core Team

Jason Du- Founder

Jason is a developer at heart who has been working with NFTs and smart contracts in the context of Blockchain Gaming since 2019. Jason built an NFT MMORPG in early 2019 and recognized the steps required for Blockchain Gaming to flourish.

He’s since developed a decentralized communications technology and gotten funding from Consensys. In an incubator, he collaborated with Mozilla to create a group purchasing application.

More recently, he secured funds to develop a number of blockchain projects, including the creation of a protocol allowing users to autograph and sign an NFT and a platform for Twitch streamers to mint Twitch clips as NFTs. He also created and implemented the Savage Droids smart contract, which was an instant success.

Drew – CMO

Drew manages all aspects of marketing, as well as the development of our partnerships and the expansion of our community. He has worked in a variety of unusual settings, ranging from Michelin-starred culinary to biological data science in a UCLA neuro-genetics lab.

He has co-authored multiple scientific works and earned a specialized degree in Computational & Systems Biology from UCLA alongside departmental scholars. Drew is really enthusiastic about digital communities, NFTs, and cryptocurrency.

Mickey – Lead Game Designer

Mickey is in charge of all aspects of game design, such as balancing and storytelling, and is responsible for most of the main gameplay of Legends of Venari. He is an enthusiastic gamer, having spent hundreds of thousands of hours playing games like RuneScape, League of Legends, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. He has previously worked as a Community Moderator at My.Games and as a play-tester at Riot Games.
