Blockchain.com Adds Former Comptroller Joseph Otting To Board
Joseph Otting, a former U.S. banker, will join Blockchain.com’s board of directors as a banking expert. Comptroller of the Currency, according to a blog post from the business.
From 2017 to 2020, Otting held the position of comptroller for the Trump administration. Federally chartered banks, savings associations, and federal branches of foreign banks doing business in the United States are all under the comptroller’s supervision.
Joseph Otting in the statement:
“Crypto is in an era similar to the pre-consumer-use period of the early 1990s when the internet was being built but before it was a way of life. It also reminds me of the earlier days of banking, when the industry was navigating its digital shift. I’m honored to join the board of Blockchain.com and help it navigate the regulatory landscape as one of the most established firms in its space.”
Otting served in a number of capacities at Union Bank between 1986 and 2001, including group head of commercial banking, senior vice president, executive vice president, and deputy regional vice president.
After that, he spent nine years at U.S. Bank, where, until 2010, he held the positions of market president, executive vice president, and manager of the East Region Commercial Banking Group. After that, he was appointed president, chief executive officer, and a member of the board of OneWest Bank until the bank merged with CIT Group in 2015.
