Everscale (formerly FreeTON) network developer Broxus announced the opening of their Everscale Grants program. The scholarship program will provide significant financial and technical support to eligible promising IT startups.

November was a busy month for the Everscale network. Originally, the project formerly known as FreeTON had announced that it would be renamed Everscale. The reasons for the change are related to the significant advances made in the network and its correlated ecosystem compared to the early days of FreeTON.

FreeTON was started as a continuation of the now paused Telegram Open Network. After the development of this network on Telegram’s side stopped growing, the project became open source and a group of enthusiasts that eventually became FreeTON came together to try to unlock the potential of the network.

However, community members and developers, aware of the advances in the development of the network, have found that the project has grown into something bigger and that it is worth having a new name and image. The name Everscale was chosen because it reflects one of the network’s best qualities, its infinite scalability.

The entire Everscale project is only a few years old but the renaming comes as the excitement for some of the network’s new and upcoming products grows. Recently, Everscale developers Broxus announced that the bridge network will enable the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) protocol, making it fully controlled by the community. Bridge connects the Everscale network with other blockchains and tokens and offers users Layer 2 access to significantly cheaper and faster transactions.

Now that Broxus has more news, this time around is of particular interest to those who are not yet part of the Everscale ecosystem. Broxus created the Everscale Grants program, which provides funding and expertise to eligible high-potential technology startups.

Why Apply for Everscale Grants?

The Everscale Grant program is ideal for smaller startups that have a clear vision and talent but could use the additional liquidity to get them to the finish line. Based on the applicant’s project, the scholarship program will provide them with the financial support necessary to complete an MVP or milestone. To this end, Broxus has made 15 million ever-native tokens available for distribution to companies that have been approved to participate in the program.

Everscale is still at the beginning, but as the rebranding has indicated, the wheels are already in motion.
