Quincy University accepts donations in BTC, ETH, LTC, TRX, DOGE, and SHIB
Quincy University, a private Franciscan university based in Illinois, has started accepting cryptocurrency donations. Available options include Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Tron (TRX), Dogecoin (DOGE), and Shiba Inu (SHIB).
In his statement, Matt Bergman, senior director of progress at Quincy University, highlighted the explosive growth of the crypto industry and predicted it would not slow down “anytime soon”:
“QU is always looking for ways to make it easier for donors to support our students and initiatives.”
Back in 2014, the University of Puget Sound became the first American university to accept cryptocurrency donations. The school’s alumni, with the help of payment processing company BitPay, donated 14.5 bitcoins to the educational institution, worth about $10,000 at the time.
The number of universities accepting cryptocurrencies has skyrocketed since then. The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania has enabled participants in its blockchain program to pay tuition in bitcoin.
